I liked the screened-in front porch. Or catching catfish out of the river below the damn. And can visualize Bompa's electrically-illuminated extravaganza of an ashtray... for his non-filter Pall Malls. And watchin' him nip now and again, from the bottle in his whisky box. Nana's prescient fortune-card tellings, with chattering parakeets, cleaning fish, doll collections, and the big river were always delightful for me. I remember Nana and Bompa as good-hearted, caring, people, who alternated between stern, wise, stubborn, and mysterious. I miss them. And their very special children, who I also found to be good-hearted, caring, stern, wise, stubborn, and mysterious even according to their own measures.

We all have important values and ideas, things we care about and want to share. Sometimes our ideas can be put into action. Other ideas inspire writing. Effective writing preserves ideas and inspires action.
